Who’s definition of success are you living by? Your parents? Your teachers? Siblings? Friends? Mentors? Or Yours?
We are indoctrinated from the time we are born with the standards, and expectations of our families, friends and society.
We are expected to behave and perform in a particular way and achieve certain things that are part of the conditioning of our society, lifetime after lifetime, and generation after generation. The question is, who made up these standards and expectations and are they truly serving us?
Certainly, cultural beliefs and moral standards are a necessary part of our lives and largely what distinguishes us from the animal kingdom. They are our code of conduct, much of which is like an unwritten law that enables us to live within our human community with hopefully some sense of harmony.
The question is, how many of these expectations are serving us and how are we defining our level of success?
Are you trying to live up to impossible expectations for yourself? And are you failing to recognise and realise your true brilliance because you are not exploring your own unique gifts and talents, but instead performing roles that others consider acceptable and ‘right’?
Do you even know what your own unique gifts and talents are? What are your strengths and are you capitalising on those?
You are here on this planet for a purpose? Out of 6 billion people on the planet, there is not one single other person who is exactly like you. Your whole, true self is as unique as a fingerprint and as beautiful as a snowflake. These are not impossible standards. This is absolute truth. And when you live from that space, sharing your true brilliance with the rest of the planet, life will unfold in such spectacular and remarkable ways that you could not possibly have imagined.
This may sound all very idealistic if you have not embraced this kind of philosophy previously. And how do you discover your own true brilliance and start to realise your full potential? Start by becoming aware of everything you do and why you are doing it. Are you doing it because others believe you should be doing, or because it makes your heart sing?
Of course, we all have responsibilities we have accepted and I am not saying to abandon these. If we have taken them on, then it is important we ensure in the process of transitioning to a life on purpose that others are not hurt and abandoned. However, by focusing on being the best we can be in all ways, everyone will benefit when we begin to fulfil our destiny and live the life we truly deserve.
If it all seems to hard, then do not say ‘I can’t’, Instead ask ‘How can I?’, and be open for the answer to come to you in ways you may not even expect.
We are all here to serve by being our glorious selves completely, with no need for excuse or explanation. Live from that space and prepare yourself for magic to happen.
